Return to the Ranch

It is cold and overcast and the moon is full tonight as I write this, although the rumored storm doesn't seem to be materializing. We have piles of stuff, and more to come in advance of heading to the ranch. It will be exciting to have a place to spread out and set up my bike stand for a while. Today I daydreamed a couple of rides long loops from the ranch: south across the Jacksons to Winnemucca, then farther east to Arc Dome on the route Renee and I drove in the Jeep a few years ago, through the heart of the Great Basin, to Ely and Great Basin National Park, then north to the Ruby Marshes, along the Rubies, up to Jarbridge and back across the Owyhee Desert, across the Santa Rosas and back; up to the Steen Mountains and Hart Mountain, down to Lakeview, east to Adel and then south to Cedarville and back around to the ranch through Gerlach. Possibilities abound for nearly endless empty road riding in the great wide open.

Another exciting thing about going to the ranch is that hopefully I'll get some warmshowers.org visits at the ranch. I have this vision of making my own Casa de Ciclistas out there.
