I'm now in the third month of the Ranch Work Bike Challenge! If I can make three months I can make anything, although this month promises to be the most challenging so far. The grass, hay and weeds in the fields are so high now that it's like biking through a jungle (especially for poor Coco, she can hardly see a thing). What was unfamiliar and novel for the first months is now pretty old hat, so there is a good bit of plain old ennui as well. There is the persistent possibility of rattlesnake encounters now and the pups know our various routes so well they've taken to not following along too well, and Bodie as she gets bigger is showing more independence as well. A coyote has appeared hunting the gophers in the East Side and while it hasn't bothered the pups, it did try to herd my brother's Chihuahuas away from the pack one day. The weather has been very strange as well, many wet thunderstorms, I think we've probably had more precipitation at the end of May early June than the rest of the year combined. So these all add up to making it hard to get out on the bike, but I've been making the push. Last week I had a sweet post-irrigation ride down the dry bed of Leonard Creek below the fields, which pictures I'll post soon!
Blog note: I've been on a little bit of a hiatus, recharging my energies so to speak. I've decided that I'm not going to regularly publish this anymore as it may be time to rethink?
