I Have a Throne

Like most  it's not so comfortable, I suppose, but suitably grandiose, at least it commands this little gully where Bodie is loving the spring grass. She eats and drinks with such gusto.

[later] Hiding in the wind behind a little boulder letting Bodie have a good browse before we drop back into canyon toward our house. Climbed up to the saddle where I snowshoed the other day and the wind was tremendous. I intended to drop into the canyon ahead, but before I got to the bottom I was spooked away by an old whipping cottonwood skeleton. Didn't want to climb back up straight into the wind. Don't think I've ever been so close to blowing away. I sidehilled, tacking across it up the hill and at the top crawled through the ridgetop gusts and then, over the top, just held my line back toward my trail up with my hand over my face to shelter against any flying debris. I think my companions were better suited to it although I did worry a little about Dusty's bad hip and Coco blowing away like a tumbleweed (she sort of resembles one right now).

Bodie has come over to snuggle against my leg and chew her cud. Dogs are on point while a pod of whale clouds swim along above us.
