Bike Tour Dreams—Dog Valley

At the saddle into Dog Valley

Combing the ol' archives this morning came across these pictures from me and Coco's overnight September excursion to Dog Valley a few years ago. With no deadline and no place I had to go, packed up and rode out through Verdi and up Dog Valley Road. That climb is long, rocky, and shadeless, but soon enough down into Dog Valley for a lazy afternoon of reading, making rock sculptures and generally playing playing playing on this planet we share while causing no harm. There are superlatives and superlatives, but none of them beat the experience of powering yourself somewhere fun. Next morning lazed around, rode up along Dog Valley and then back up up up for the long coast (ouch brakes or an awesome mountain bike) into Verdi to rejoin the human stream into Reno.

Rest stop along Truckee

Guy fishing

Let's just chill in the shade.

It's a two state tour!

Just about last shade before Dog Valley road climb.

Coco epic in the glare

Roadside bath pretty nice on a hot afternoon.

Setting up camp.

Lots of furniture!

Afternoon stroll in the pine lands.

Just me coco and the trees.

Last light

The part where I start stacking rocks on each other.

Right where I want to be.

Leaning rocks

Good night!

Good morning Coco!

Flying the flag.

Packed and ready to go.

Meandering along Dog Valley
So long Dog Valley, for now.

Muddy Coco

Fire scars on way down the hill.

Back to Nevada, so long Cali.
