The way people from San Francisco or New York (or probably elsewhere, but outside of my frame of reference) call their cities "the" city, Leonard Creek Meadow will always be "the" meadow for me. So it was a great treat to go up their with Coco and Dusty and special guest Nero when I was at the ranch last time.
It seems rare to set out to hike to a meadow, generally set out for canyons or peaks or whatnot, but with Dusty's advancing age and difficulty scrambling in the rocks, it has really caused me to reevaluate what makes a good hike, with really spectacular results lately. Up at Leonard Creek Meadow the flowers were blooming like crazy, the creek was bubbling, the pups were loving playing. Life doesn't really get any better.
