Farad (Dam) and Away

I had a nice lazy weekend in Reno. With Renee gone working in the Black Rock, I got out a bit with the pups. On Sunday, we went out Quilici Ranch Road and hiked up the Truckee River to Farad Dam. This is one of my favorite places in Reno (see my other blog posts on hiking another weekend out and exploring this trail on my bike). It was a beautiful sunny day and the river was running high, as well as the ditch being full, so Dusty and Coco had plenty of water.

We hiked all the way up to the river crossing at Farad Dam with a couple of nice long breaks for writing in my diary and for the pups to play in the water, so it ended up being three and a half hours round-trip. There were lots of flowers blooming alongside the road and we saw a bull snake lazing in the sun. Surprisingly, there were no climbers at the big rock at Farad, although on our way out there was a group coming in. Then it was time to head home in time for barbecue celebrating the return of Arrested Development.

Lots of flowers out.

Flowers, flowers, flowers.
New since the last time I hiked up here! Apparently it's official.
