Exploring the Virginia Range

One of the best things about our new house is the opportunity to explore the Virginia Range, now literally our front yard, even more. Since moving down here I've had a chance to get out a few times and it never ceases to surprise and delight. While forming part of the urban boundary between Reno and Carson City, the backcountry here feels very isolated and in all my explorations I haven't come across another user off the road, despite to proliferation of four-wheeler trails and the occasional gunshots of some distant target shooter I generally have the juniper forest to myself.
