Frenchman's Loop

The ride that almost didn't start. I had just started pedaling up the hill from the dam at Frenchman's Reservoir and noticed that one of my cleats was loose and I didn't have an allen wrench with me to tighten it down, nor did I want to pedal all day with my foot sliding back and forth due to a loose cleat. It being the weekend, however, there were plenty of people camped in the lakeside campgrounds and I pretty easily (second campsite I approached) found a good samaritan with the right tool and a very little boy in a giant cowboy hat who stood awkwardly in his daddy's shadow. From there just nice pedaling on mostly empty roads and a beautiful sunny day. I had done part of the loop through Dixie Valley on my July 4th bike tour, but much it was new. It is such an incredible pleasure to explore somewhere new in this landscape that I love so much.

Leaving the reservoir in the morning without a cloud in they sky.

Looking up Frenchman's Creek, the way I was headed.

Divine!
